Former sports collectibles king Bill Mastro, known for Honus Wagner card, will plead guilty to fraud.

Mastro will acknowledge at the February hearing that he altered the world's most valuable trading card, a Honus Wagner T206 that has fetched millions of dollars in a series of high-profile transactions, including a 1991 sale for $451,000 to NHL legend Wayne Gretzky and former Los Angeles Kings owner Bruce McNall.

A Babe Ruth Signed Ball With a Visual Story.
Incredibly, the ball carries not only the certification of PSA/DNA, but is also accompanied by actual video of the ball being signed for the original owner – a young boy who approached the Babe at Yankee Stadium in the summer of 1929. Sporting News Set Hits Auction Block on Friday.
Another attic find will hit the auction block, this time, through Memory Lane.

It’s a high-grade set of 1916 M101-5 blank-back cards, a 200-card release that includes the likes of Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner and Jim Thorpe. The cards, which were originally released as a marking promotion for The Sporting News, open on auction on Friday with bidding running until Dec. 15.

Largest Collection of Autographed Baseballs Find Home.
ABC’s show The List featured the St. Petersburg Museum of History and the all-American pastime of baseball was the center of attention.

Woman stole all of her mother’s estate, including a baseball card collection valued at $147,000.
Michael Mehall alleges his baseball card collection disappeared from his mother’s house after his sister became executrix. He discovered the 250,000-card collection missing when he was allowed into his mother’s house for the first time since her death in November 2007, according to the civil complaint.

The oldest cards in the set dated to 1909 and included ones for Bill O’Hara and Tris Speaker that were valued at $6,000 each.

Pete Rose lifetime ban document fails to sell at auction.
Goldin Auctions said Sunday the highest bid was $236,000, a price that would have been raised to $258,600 including the auctioneer's 10 percent fee. Ken Goldin says in an email to The Associated Press that "I am working on selling it privately for the consignor."

Is This The End of The Old-Time Baseball Card Collector?
The one set that older collectors tend to love the most, the base Topps set, has been continually debased over the years. In 2012, Topps made sure that the average collector would have zero chance of completing the set, and followed up on that decision by rendering the update series irrelevant.

Not one of these decisions was made in an attempt to make a better set. They were simply the latest in a long line of gimmicks to try and sell more unopened material in the short term with no concern for the long term health of the business or the hobby.

2012 Topps Five Star on eBay (Day 1).
Whether one can afford it or not, the $500-per-pack 2012 Five Star baseball card set from Topps is getting broken. A lot. Babe Ruth Baseball and Important Collection of Baseball Cards to feature at Kaminski Auctions Annual Thanksgiving Auction, Sunday, November 25th.
The top lot of the sale is a 1939 Babe Ruth signed baseball, an official American League ball, awarded to James Wenman, of the Brunswick School, Greenwich CT. The baseball was awarded for the highest fielding average, by Brewster King, coach of the Brunswick School baseball team. This ball has never been used and is valued at $40,000-$60,000.

Do You Have What It Takes To Be A Member Of The Topps Five Star Club?
First comes the $500 pack, next comes the $10,000 club. With the arrival of the most-expensive baseball card set in Topps history tomorrow in 2012 Topps Five Star, the company released details of its Five Star Club, which is “an elite club for our most passionate collectors.”

Membership is free, but as part of the application process one must present evidence of spending $10,000 a year on Topps product either via receipts or a statement from one’s hobby shop owner.

Miami Heat Championship Ring Sells on eBay Two Weeks After Release.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell tweeted out Monday night that a new listing was posted on Ebay for an authentic ring from the Miami Heat’s second NBA title. The ring, which comes with the official box and consists of gold and countless diamonds is a staff ring. The staff ring is not as large and not as many diamonds as those earned by stars like Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

The National Sports Collectors Convention is known to bring out the best of the best in sports memorabilia, and at times, items that have never been seen before. A 1909-11 T206 White Border Ed Walsh with Blue Old Mill backing was a first at this year’s convention, and now the card will be offered in a Huggins and Scott sale that starts Dec. 3 and ends Dec. 13.

Darrell Royal's bowl championship rings brought big-money bids as the ex-Texas Longhorns football coach's memorabilia went up for auction.
Austin Auction Gallery spokeswoman Amy McCullough says Royal's 2006 Rose Bowl national championship ring brought a top bid of $120,000 from an unidentified bidder.

Baseball auction sells Babe Ruth bat for $253,000
An auction pulled in $253,000 for a 1924 Babe Ruth autographed professional model baseball bat. According to Hunt Auctions, two collections of sports memorabilia also did well at the weekend auction. A group of autographed baseballs assembled by the general manager of the St. Louis Jefferson Hotel in the early 1900 sold for more than $102,000. The collection included an R.J. (Bobby) Wallace single signed baseball and an incredibly rare 1915 Miller Huggins single signed baseball.

The second large dollar collection was a group of 20th century baseball programs which sold for over $89,000.

Early Analysis: 2012 Topps Five Star Checklist.
The final checklist for the first Topps high-end baseball card release, 2012 Five Star, has arrived just days before the $500 per-pack product does. Interestingly, there are 80 cards listed for the product’s base set — no base set previously was announced or even previewed — and the final details on the per-pack inclusions have not been disclosed other than there will be five autographs or Relics per pack. (Update: One base card per is likely.) There also appear to be parallels for some sets, which aren’t noted on the released checklist.

The Mystery of The Missing DiMaggio World Series Rings.
Hunt Auctions is auctioning a 1951 DiMaggio World Series Ring that was held for decades by an employee of the ring manufacturing company. However, legendary collector Barry Halper claimed to own DiMaggio's 1951 WS ring and the Yankee Clipper authenticated it for him.

Hunt Auctions does not mention in its current lot description the existence of the controversial Halper-DiMaggio 1951 ring and that the ring was sold years ago in the famous Southerby's 1999 Halper auction.

Panini's Cooperstown Includes First Baseball Cards of First Woman Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame.
Effa Manley appears on card No. 7 in the Hall History insert set as well as card No. 47 in the Bronze History insert, a set where each card is limited to 599 serial-numbered copies. She was the first woman elected to the Hall for her work as co-owner and business manager of the Newark Eagles Negro League team from 1936 to 1948. She was among 17 players and contributors elected in 2006.

Paul Hornung to auction football memorabilia for charity.
Hornung, one of the greatest players to wear a Green Bay Packers jersey, has agreed to sell his college and pro football memorabilia. The items inlcude a reisssue of the 1956 Heisman Trophy he won, his Notre Dame class ring, and a number of other rings. The rings include reissues of his 1961 Packers championship ring, a 1965 Packers championship ring and the ring from Super Bowl I.

Silver Sluggers: A Collecting Niche To Consider.
This year’s Silver Sluggers will be unveiled on Thursday during a one-hour special on MLB Network hosted by Greg Amsinger and a guy who knows a thing or two about bats and is remembered fondly in the hobby for at least one of them, Billy Ripken. Honus Wagner baseball card value up 6.72% pa since 2008.
Earlier this year, a rare Honus Wagner baseball card has sold for $1.23m at an online auction. The sale represents a 6.72% rise in value for "VG-3" graded Honus Wagners since 2008, confirmation of the upward trend of the high-end of the baseball card market. A Wagner with the same grading sold for $950,000 in 2008.

Evander Holyfield sues to stop memorabilia auction.
Holyfield's lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles and seeks an order blocking the sale of 20 of the almost 450 items set for auction Nov. 30 by Julien's Auctions. The case claims Holyfield must consent to the auction of all the items and that the disputed items should be returned.

He's one of 10 people nationwide to find a Topps Golden Draft Ticket in a pack of football cards. Each ticket entitles the collector to an autographed football by Colts quarterback Andrew Luck or Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III. The grand prize is one person will appear on a 2013 Topps football trading card.

Topps Offices Remain Closed in Wake of Sandy.
A destructive hurricane swept through the Northeast this week, flooding out houses and leaving millions without power. The Topps Company has been one of those entities affected in the aftermath of the superstorm Sandy. The main Topps offices are located at 1 Whitehall Street, just steps from the southern tip of Manhattan and the South Ferry Terminal – some of the hardest hit areas of the borough. Topps offices have remained closed as it has been without power.
