T3, T206 Sets Make for One of Best Clean Sweep Auctions Ever.
The auction kicks off with a powerful one-two punch of complete sets of 1911 T3 Turkey Red cards and a complete set of 1909 T206 cards. The T3 set grades out from Good to Very Good condition, according to Clean Sweep, with 17 of the cards graded, including a SGC 3 for the Ty Cobb shown.

Collectors have had to wait about eight years for a new golf set from Upper Deck. In that time, we’ve seen some great tournament runs and golfers endure rises and falls. Babe Ruth autographed postcard found at Florida library.
When the library's downtown location closed, many items donated to the library went into storage, including the signed card. After some research, the library association figured out the signature was probably from the 1940s, after Babe Ruth retired and began spending a lot of time in Florida with the Yankees at spring training and scouting.

Employee arrested for stealing from Steiner Sports.
A 29-year-old Bronx man was arrested for stealing almost $15,000 worth of checks and gift cards from his employer, Steiner Sports, a sports memorabilia company, New Rochelle police said.

A Big-Time Sports Memorabilia Collector Shares His Experience Going on the Pawn Stars TV Show.
Being on “Pawn Stars” is more work than one may expect. It took more than two hours to film his two-minute appearance. Lighting and sound had to be just right. He couldn’t look at the camera. And he could not call the guys by their first names. Some scenes were shot again. But when it came to a price, there were no second takes.

Panini to Honor Denver Broncos Great Rod Smith with Special Card Set.
Panini America has partnered with the Broncos and Coca-Cola Zero to produce a special six-card Smith set that will be distributed Sunday to fans who attend Denver’s game against the Houston Texans. Each card in the set commemorates a different Smith accomplishment, including his Super Bowl XXXIII performance, becoming the Broncos’ all-time leading receiver, recording 100 yards receiving in each half in a 2004 game against Atlanta and eclipsing 10,000 career receiving yards.

Topps Previews Valor, Newest Football High-End Release.   With eight packs per box, collectors are going to clean up on hits with 2012 Valor. There are two on-card rookie autographs, one veteran/retired autograph card, one rookie patch card and two base cards. The on-card rookie autographs will come in two forms Legionary and Valor autographs with up to 40 subjects on each card. The veteran/retired autographs will be called Centurion autographs. For both, parallels won’t take on the form of different colors as in previous Topps’ products.

Auction house to sell Michael Jordan's signed American Express credit card.   GoldinAuctions.com is auctioning off an expired American Express credit card that belonged to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer. The card includes his name "Michael J. Jordan" -- the J. stands for Jeffrey -- and bears Jordan's signature on the back. The site's auction notes that the card is "PSA/DNA Certified" with bids to open in October at a starting price of $1,000.

2012 Panini Cooperstown Baseball looks like a winner.   Sure, there will be no logos, but don't let the lack of a license sway you away from these cards. Panini got a ton of on-card autographs in this set of past legends. Some of them include: Yogi Berra #/99, Stan Musial #/50, Nolan Ryan #/75, Vin Scully #/100 and many more. These are all on-card! There are some sticker autographs in the Cooperstown Signatures (1 Per Box) set but they are of players who have deceased.

He later learned Palmeiro didn't use that gear during the historic game and spent 10 months trying to get Monette to make things right.

Businessman Pat Goff to sell sports memorabilia collection for charity.   Most of the collection -- estimated at about 2,000 pieces -- will be on sale today and Saturday at El Paso Saddleblanket's Sports Memorabilia Show. A portion of the proceeds will go to charity. Items will sell from $10 to $2,400.

Pete Rose banishment papers up for auction.   Signed Aug. 23, 1989 by "Peter Edward Rose," along with then commissioner A. Bart Giamatti and deputy commissioner Fay Vincent, the five-page document describes the sanctions Rose agreed to when he accepted his punishment from the sport. Auctioneer Ken Goldin told ESPN.com that he feel the artifact will fetch more than the $996,000 paid in 2005 for the 1919 pact that sentBabe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees.

Hockey Products Will Be Hurt By Potential Lockout.   As the deadline for an NHL lockout looms, it seems ever more likely hockey will be at least delayed this year. The NHL and NHLPA have yet to come to an agreement, and if one is not reached by midnight on Sept. 15, hockey will be in its second lockout in eight years.

Grey Flannel Auctions High-End Basketball Treasures.   A 1976 Olympic gold medal of six-time NBA All-Star Walter Davis — an exquisite piece of historic bling that collected 20 bids totaling $108,000 when the action closed at the seventh-annual Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Auction. It wasn’t the only piece of big-dollar memorabilia to sell in the 198-lot event as six game-used jerseys from the 1960s into the early 1990s each commanded more than $50,000 apiece.

Football Memorabilia Market Very Strong.   These days, National Football League jerseys used in games can fetch tens of thousand of dollars. A Tom Brady shirt garnered a record $46,000 at February's Super Bowl charity auction. Collectors say that football is one of the strongest segments of the sports-memorabilia market, estimated at $1 billion a year.

Sports Memorabilia Dealer Pleads Guilty to Fraud, Faces 20 Years Over Fake Game-Used Jersey Scam.   A Florida man accused of selling hundreds of bogus game-used jerseys pleaded guilty to mail fraud on Thursday in federal court. The charges stem from an ongoing five-year investigation into fraud in the sports memorabilia industry that has been conducted by the Chicago FBI and other federal agencies. In July, a grand jury indicted one-time memorabilia king Bill Mastro, the founder of Mastro Auctions, and his longtime associate Doug on fraud charges. Both men have pleaded not guilty.

Hot Dogs and High Dollars: The 1954 Wilson Franks.   In a recent Goodwin & Co. auction a high-grade card of Ted Williams produced in 1954 by Wilson Franks sold for a whopping $11,227. The Williams card is the heavy hitter in the 20-card Wilson Franks set now so difficult to find on the secondary market – and almost impossible to find in top condition. The Goodwin example was graded SGC 7.

Collector Sues Baseball Player Fausto Carmona.   A Ohio collector is seeking to recoup the loss on his investment of Carmona's rookie cards, which have taken a hit with new found developments. He has 323 rookie cards of Carmona, mostly autographed cards with a lot of high-end and high grade examples. The collector estimated he has more than $5,000 invested in the pitcher’s cards and is seeking the maximum allowed by Ohio’s small claims court – $3,000.

Topps Calls Out Dealers on Twitter For Selling Giveaway Redemption Cards.   In about a week, collectors will be able to redeem cards pulled from 2012 Topps Football for exclusive packs that were given to hobby shops for the Topps Kickoff Hobby Store Promotion. The promotion starts Sept. 5, but some dealers have seemingly began to put cards up for sale on eBay now.

First Look: Panini America's 2012 Black Football.   One of the selling points of Black are the Rookie Signatures Materials Prime, which will have on-card autographs and prime pieces of memorabilia embedded in the card. These cards – featuring players such as Luck and RGIII – are numbered to 349 or less.

Babe Ruth's Stolen Will Recovered by NY Attorney General. Jackie Robinson's is Still Missing.   The theft of the will dates back to the 1990s as part of a string of heists of rare Baseball Hall of Famer signatures found on a myriad of wills and legal documents. An investigation of those thefts led to the conviction of a Boston Court officer named Joe Schnabel who admitted to investigators lifting and peddling the wills of baseball legends including “Old Hoss” Radbourn, George Wright, Hugh Duffy, Tommy Connolly, Tom Yawkey, Ned Hanlon and the now recovered will of Babe Ruth. Schnabel pleaded guilty to only two counts of larceny and was sentenced to one year of probation with a fine of $5,000.
