More Trouble for Peter Nash - The Hip-Hop Artist Turned Sports Memorabilia Dealer.   A New York judge has ruled that Peter Nash, best known as "Prime Minister Pete Nice" of the '80s group 3rd Bass, is in contempt of court and could be arrested if he continues to ignore an order to provide tax records and other financial documents to a New Jersey sports memorabilia auction house.

Topps Finest UFC Red Refractors.   For UFC, their first year with Finest has produced some very nice secondary sales for the top card that have already been pulled, but much like thier baseball brand, it is the red refractors that are leading the way. Serial numbered to only one for each base card and insert, the red-hued cards are among the most desirable cards in any sport.

The Oklahoma Sooners are Getting Their Own Set From Upper Deck.   The set will be filled with recent stars such as quarterback Sam Bradford and running back Adrian Peterson. But UD is also digging into the steep history of the Sooners by including running back Steve Owens and defensive lineman Lee Roy Selmon, who died on Sept. 4.

Autograph collection has Hall of Fame lineup.   The collector sent letters with return addresses to baseball players all across the country. If he didn't have their address, he addressed the envelope "Name," "Former Baseball Player" and the state he lived in. The post office would forward the letter to the player; most of them were gracious enough to send an autograph. There are autographs of over 50 players, many of which are in the Hall of Fame. The most famous are Cy Young and Honus Wagner.

Leaf Readies Pete Rose Legacy Set.   The company is readying a Pete Rose Legacy set coming in November, which will apparently be chock-full of autographs, memorabilia and more. The Internet Continues to Change the World of Sports Card Collecting.   A lot has changed from the Civil War era when sports cards first debuted to today, but none has had more of an impact on the industry than the internet. MLBPA Signs Trading Card Deal With Panini, But Something's Missing.   Panini is can use the likenesses and images of active Major Leaguers in their products but the license does not allow Panini to use club logos since those would require a seperate deal from MLB.

Double-crossed by double printing.   Topps double-printed a number of cards in the 1978 set. It continued the practice for another four years, which is why Tucker Ashford kept reappearing in '79, Larry Hisle was all too common in '80, and Matt Alexander was wearing out his welcome in '81. Chipper Jones 450th Home Run Ball in Controversy.   Jones' 450th home run was apparently important enough for the Braves organization to make a trade with a 16-year-old girl, but her parents now have an attorney because they insist an adult should have been present for that trade.

Superbowl III Ring Found After Lost for 40 Years - To be Returned to the Player.   John Schmitt cherished his Super Bowl ring. He earned it as the starting center of the New York Jets when the AFL Jets upset the Baltimore. Now he will get his ring back after it was found in the water off Waikiki Hawii.

Panini Signs Multi-Year Agreement with MLBPA.   Panini and Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) announced a multi-year trading card agreement. The deal now gives Panini licenses in all four of the U.S. major sports.

Frank McGrath, a famous Irish hurler and hurling manager was given the baseball bat when he met the American legend on a visit to the US in 1926.

The Most Famous Trophy in Sports - The Stanley Cup Gets Dinged in Fall.   Every championship player gets his day with the Stanley Cup. Michael Ryder, the former Boston Bruins forward, placed the trophy on a table outside as he prepared for a helicopter ride to his hometown in Bonavista. As he let go of the trophy, the table tipped over, sending the Cup to the ground.

Lawsuit Centered Around Kobe Bryant Autographs Settled Between Panini and Art of the Game.   The case was heated. Panini brought suit then The Art of the Game moved for sanctions against Panini for allegedly filing a baseless lawsuit. Both sides submitted a lot of testimony in support of their positions.
