Massive New York Auction Includes Lots of Rare Sports Memorabilia.   Highlights of the the auction on June 11th include a copy of "The Babe Ruth Story" signed by the baseball legend and baseballs signed by the 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers, the 1974-76 New York Yankees, Richard Nixon, Yogi Berra, Sandy Koufax and many others. There are also complete sets of 1967, 1970 and 1973 Topps Baseball, as well a large collection of T205 graded tobacco cards, graded 1950s and ‘60s baseball cards, and various Babe Ruth and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson cards.

Madison Square Garden selling arena memorabilia, starting with the seats.   Pairs of the teal or fuchsia seats, which date back to the early 1990s, were set to be sold for $899, more than the $869 charged for Shea Stadium's, but far less than the $1,500 Yankee Stadium's went for. Downtown Freddy Brown’s 1978-79 NBA Championship Ring Sells for Over $115,000.   Brown's wife was recently cleaning out their home and came across some old basketball memorabilia. A few of the more valuable items, including the ring, a pair of game-used autographed sneakers and a team autographed ball, were put up for auction so that the proceeds could be donated to charity. Although Brown was not aware she found the items and planned to donate them, he supported his wife's decision.

Man charged in case of stolen Sox memorabilia.   Jamie Pritchard-Holland allegedly called a New York auction service last September and said he had a son dying of cancer and mounting medical bills. He needed money fast, he said, and was willing to auction off his vast collection of Boston Red Sox memorabilia given to him by none other than Theo Epstein, the team’s general manager.

After 40 Years, Former Los Angeles Lakers Coach Bill Sharman Receives ABA Championship Ring.   Sharman did not receive a ring for the championship until tonight because he left the Stars in the off-season following the championship to become the Lakers coach and was sued by the Stars, who alleged brief of contract. The case continued in the federal courts even after the Stars folded in 1975.
